ARENA EVENTING TRAINING 10am -12 pm approx depending on numbers. This will be a one hour training session over the arena eventing course of up to 4 riders in a group. If there are only 3 riders then the session will be reduced to 45 mins.

This a 30 minute session that you can choose to have a private lesson or a test ride.
Test ride - choose from the following tests; Intro 1 2024, Prelim 1 2024, Novice 1 2024, Ele 1 2024, Med 1 2024. Please state in the notes section which test you would like to ride. You will be warmed up ready to ride your chosen test, ride your test then get feedback and tuition and then ride the test again if you wish.

Clear Round Arena Eventing

You may ONLY enter the Arena Eventing clear round if you have already entered a Dressage, Arena Eventing or Combined Training class. You will not be allowed to enter the clear round on it's own. As we do not have training before the event riders may do their clear round BEFORE or AFTER their class to have a practice. TIMES WILL BE GIVEN FOR THE CLEAR ROUND SO PLEASE STATE IN THE NOTES SECTION IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO DO YOUR CLEAR ROUND BEFORE OR AFTER YOUR COMPETITION.

The course will remain the same for all classes. Fences 1-6 will be show jumps, you will then proceed directly over fences 7-14 which will be working hunter style fences. The time will be based on an optimum time over the XC course. The winner will be the rider with a clear round closest to the optimum time. OPTIMUM TIMES CLASSES 4,5 and 8,9 To be ridden at a speed of 350 mpm (metres per minute) CLASSES 6,7 and 10,11: To be ridden at a speed of 375 mpm
SCORING ARENA EVENTING First disobedience: 4 penalties, Second disobedience: 8 penalties, Third disobedience: Elimination Knock down of obstacle: 4 penalties, Fall of rider / horse: elimination, every second under or over the optimum time: 1 penalty.
COMBINED EVENT Jumping phase as above. The penalties from the jumping will be deducted from the dressage score. The rider with the highest score will be the winner.
DRESS Arena Eventing/Combined Event – Cross Country attire or jacket. Body protector and hat complying with the current standard are mandatory for the jumping phase. Jackets for dressage. Plaiting is not necessary.

PRE-ENTRIES ONLY. Entries through www.myridinglife.com, our Secure Online Entry System. Payment is secure and it goes directly to WRC. You will receive an email confirmation of your entry and payment
Should you need to cancel, we can only give a refund minus a £2 admin fee if we can fill your place.
Refund of entry fees As a general rule refunds will not be permitted & are at the discretion of the event organising committee member. If your space can be filled then a refund may be allowed, minus any booking fees. Health & safety As organisers & managers of Winchester Riding Club we take all reasonable precautions to ensure the health & safety of everyone present at our activities .However, horse riding is a risk sport , & consequently we do not accept liability for any loss, accident or damage to any person, animal, vehicle or goods occurring in connection with any of our events. Instructions of the organisers & all WRC officials & stewards must be adhered to at all times. Fall of horse /rider As a club we have a duty of care to our members/riders. Therefore, for the avoidance of doubt, the following procedure will apply at all WRC events: If you have a fall (horse or rider) anywhere at a WRC venue you may not remount until your situation has been assessed & discussed with two 1st aid trained committee members or an authorised trainer & one committee member. Hats & Body Protectors Your riding hat should now have the standard, PAS 015:2011, SNELL 2016, VG1 01.040 2014-12 with either a BSI Kitemark or a Inspec IC Mark, ASTM F1163 2004a or 04a onwards which must have a SEI mark or AS/NZS 3838 2006 onwards which must have a SAI Global Mark. Body protectors should have the standard 2009 or above, however keep in mind when buying a new body protector that from the 01st January 2024, 2009 body protectors will be abolished, and you should only ride in a body protector with a BETA 2018 label in.
